Another Illustration assignment... I think this is my best piece this semester o 3o
Just an illustration for the book 'Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things', a rather old collection of japanese folk tales and insect studies. This one of course illustrates Yuki-onna, the snow maiden. I really wanted this piece to be vertical but it's prolly best this way. Maybe I'll do something more vertical later in life. hm...

But isn,t she in charge of leaving men in the mountain and letting them freeze to death?? i read so many back in 1996, i dont remember anymore..I like the japanese crane who turned into a young girl one!!

The book is called Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things by Lafcadio Hearn.

This is from one particular story which was also one of the featured four from the movie version (Criterion Collection) Which I recommend. This is one stunning piece of work an would LOVE to be able to feature this when I do a review of the movie and book for my blog!
